Genesis 2:24

Celebrating One Year of Marriage: The Joy of Two becoming One.

One year ago today, I was standing in front of friends and family for the second time in my life saying I do, to the woman that God brought into my life. As we celebrate our first anniversary together, I am reminded of my life verse; Isaiah 55:8, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares Yahweh. I never imagined that this would be my life today, but God did.

April and I have had our ups and downs this year, but have continued to grow stronger in our LOVE. Did you know that Love is a divine gift from God that transforms lives? There are few things more beautiful than the profound connection shared between two souls that God brings together in marriage. God has bestowed upon me the honor and privilege of finding a soul mate not once by twice in this life.

God’s Love is at the core of our marriage, illuminating our lives with its radiant light. It is an incredible force that binds us together, giving us strength and purpose. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, the apostle Paul beautifully describes the nature of love: “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

These verses remind me of how our relationship has grown this year. Our love is patient, allowing us to navigate challenges and embrace growth together. It is kind, fostering an environment of compassion and understanding. We celebrate each other’s successes without envy, and our hearts are free from pride. By valuing and respecting one another, always putting God first, and praying together, we try to honor the divine essence of God’s Love that binds us together.

In the sacred covenant of marriage, two hearts beat as one, harmonizing their dreams and aspirations. Proverbs 16:3 states, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” By intertwining our faith with our daily life, April and I have witnessed the hand of God guiding us in remarkable ways. Our shared commitment to God and each other has allowed us to chase after our dreams, knowing that our union is fortified by His grace.

Through prayer and seeking God’s guidance, we have found solace in the assurance that our paths are aligned. Our dreams have become intertwined, and we support each other wholeheartedly. We work hard to blend a family which is no easy task, given some of the circumstances, but we know we will get there if we keep our focus on God.

As I reflect on our first year of marriage, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to God for the incredible gift He gave me by bringing April into my life. I pray that our marriage will be a testament to others of the transformative power of God’s love and kindness.
