Retirement

10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips. – Job 2:10 (ESV) I can not imagine the pain and suffering that Job went through and yet he still praised GOD. Melinda and I try to do as Job did each day; Praise the LORD, our GOD!!!

This week has been a whirlwind of emotions. Melinda’s last day of work was Thursday. It is not the way either of us envisioned her future ending at Troy, but disability retirement is the best thing for her health at this time. We can not say enough Thank You’s to those administrators that worked with her to get her today. We believe TRS has everything they need and if all goes well Melinda will transition from her medical insurance with Troy ISD to TRS next month. One downside is Melinda had reached her max out of pocket and now the deductibles will start over. We are praying God will provide a way to pay for the new max deductibles. Melinda is still a bit upset that she was not able to say goodbye to everyone. She is hoping when she is feeling better she will be able to.

Melinda’s oncology visit went different than expected. We had a long talk with the Oncologist and he has decided to not do Chemo for at least three months. He said that he now believes the Chemo has been causing the stomach pains. He hopes by giving her some rest she can heal. He did show us one small spot on the MRI scans that could possibly be a new tumor. It has not grown or moved from November to now so he could not be sure. He did say “well this time next year”, during part of the conversation which for me is the most positive he has been since he mentioned the year and not months. I believe he thinks if we can get the stomach thing fixed Melinda will do much better.

Please pray with us that the spot is nothing and that if it is GOD’s will he will remove it over the next three months.

We did ask the oncologist about other chemo solutions, but he said the one she is on is the best for Brain Cancer. He said the only other drug that shows some promise he can not subscribe because it is illegal in Texas; cannabis. It is very frustrating that someone with a medical need and has tried the normal treatment and it failed cannot try something else. Today, I sent letters to my representatives asking them to approve the use of cannabis for cancer patients, especially if other treatments are not working. They make it in a pill it’s not like they would be lighting up on the back porch then going to Taco Bell. I pray that you would support this cause and contact representative. You can find yours at https://house.texas.gov/members/find-your-representative/.

I will end with Colossians 3:15 (AMP); 15 Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. It is what Melinda and I have decided to do as GOD is in control.

Blessings to you and your family
