Is that True?

Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.”

1 Kings 17:24 (NIV)

Warning! This post contains rants about “My Truth”!!!

“Is truth true for you but not for me? Is that true for everybody, is true for you but not for me because if true for you but not for me is true for everybody then true for you and not for me can’t be true because it’s true of everybody.”

Frank Turek

Okay, I have to admit something. I used to enjoy watching “The Biggest Loser“. Knowing what I know now about diet and health, I can not say I agree with the way the show went about teaching contestants to lose weight, but it still amazed me to see the transformations at the final episode of each season.

I tried “The Biggest Loser” diet and exercise plan in hopes I too could be transformed like the contestants. It did not work for me. I was hungry, tired, and gave up after just a few months. I stumbled on Keto/Intermediate Fasting a few years ago. It has helped me to lose over 100lbs. Diet and exercise are still daily struggles for me, but Keto does make it easier than any other diet I have ever tried.

Anyway, I just learned that the USA Network has brought back “The Biggest Loser” with Bob Harper as the host. I watched the first episode and what stuck out to me the most was when one of the contests talked about facing their truth when weighing in and later Bob said it is time to “Face your truth” as others weighed in.

What does that even mean, “Face your truth”? Does that mean if a contestant believes they only weigh 190 pounds that it must be true? I guess the scale they step on must be lying when it says they weigh 300+lbs. Believe me, if that person gets in a kayak that is rated to only support up to 200lbs they will find themselves underwater very quickly. I don’t care what they think their truth is. I know that from personal experience and physics what the truth is about weight limits and kayaks.

Our culture today has seemed to embrace “MY TRUTH”. There is no such thing as my truth when applied to facts. Your bank account shows a balance. The TRUTH is that it is your balance. A bank teller will not let you withdraw more than the amount in the account. The TRUTH is 2+2=4. The TRUTH is a scale weighs things to which it has been calibrated. If you step on a weight scale it will tell you how much you weigh regardless of what you think you might weigh.

Many believe Christians are intolerant because we quote John 14:6, …”I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” They say, ” THAT IS NOT MY TRUTH. I believe a lot of people are going to find themselves thrown into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:42) for following the “My Truth” culture.

Talking about weighing things have you seen the video, “The Good O Meter”? It best illustrates the TRUTH, Only Jesus can save you, you can not do it yourself.

If I said My Truth is my wife does not have cancer does that make it true? No, yet people all over the world try to change facts based on their “My Truth” culture. The hard truth is Melinda has been fighting brain cancer. It is a war. GOD has a plan. In the end, Melinda and I will both be happy to let Jesus step on the scale for our sins. Each day can be a battle, but we still stop and thank GOD for the opportunity. The last few days have been good. Melinda was able to make it to Sunday school. Melinda is eating and moving better and best of all her stomach pains have been much less. Thank you for all the prayers.

I believe there is only one source of TRUTH. That TRUTH can be found in GOD’s Word, the BIBLE. We pray that you have chosen to let Jesus stand-in for you on the Good-O-Meter, as Jesus is the only way to God. If you do not know Jesus and would like to Melinda or I would love to tell you all about him.
