Megan played her last game with Total Chaos last night.  It was against a 3rd Bruceville-Eddy team.  I have concluded I don’t understand this league at all.  At first I thought we played each team twice, but that has not been the case.  I guess the whole thing could best be described as total chaos; excuse the pun.

Anyway, the pitching from Eddy was awful.  Megan walked both times.  Eddy did not hit much better.  It made for a dull game to watch.  It some aspects I wish we had skipped the game and ended her season after Friday nights stellar performance.  Instead, she ended the season sitting on the bench so another girl could play 3rd base.

I don’t have problem with the coach switching around players.  I wish he did it more.  Megan would like to have tried playing first base.  What I don’t understand is why she was benched and allowed to play another position.  It was a blow to a little girl that had had a very successful season.   It pains me the her last memory of Total Chaos will be sitting on the bench.

Instead of taking pictures last night I just USTREAMed a little with my iPhone.

Total Chaos played a make up game last night against a second McGregor team. The game started about 30 minutes late. Someone forgot to schedule an official or the scheduled official did not show, not sure which was the case, but it delayed the start of the game.

The girls went back and forth for a while and were tied when the time ran out. We began getting ready to go when the McGregor coaches came over complaining they did not want to end with a tie. They wanted to finish the game. I am glad they did, because it gave Megan a chance to shine. She played the best she has all year.

Total Chaos took the field. The first McGregor batter hit the ball straight at Megan on 3rd base. She scoped it up and made a perfect throw to first getting the first out. The next batter got a hit and made it around to 3rd as the pitcher struck out the third batter for out two. The final batter hit the ball down the 3rd base line. Megan fielded the ball. She had the wits about her to tag the girl at 3rd base that was running home instead of trying to throw the ball to 1st. Megan got the 3rd out and stopped McGregor from scoring.

Total Chaos came in to bat. Luckily they were at the top of the batting order. The first batter made it to 1st base. She was able to steal 2nd as the second batter got out. Then Megan came to the plate. She hit the ball into the outfield. The hit allowed the girl on second to make it home and win the game.

Megan was named the MVP by the coaches that were there. What a game!!!

It felt a little like Déjà vu. We played the Diamond Divas again last night after playing them Monday night. At game time it was cloudy and cool. It looked like we might get rained out. The girls came out playing better than they had all season. They looked alive for the first time in a while, then the clouds moved out, the sun begin to shine and sucked the air right out of our girls. They still played hard, it just seemed they lost the steam the had when the game started.

We are proud of them. Last night showed they are learning and that is what this league should be all about. Let’s worry about winning we we get into high school.

Monday night’s game was HOT.  You could tell it really took its toll on the girls.  They were moving very slowly on both sides of the ball.  They may not have one, but they did really well against what we were told was a really good team.

Game 7 was against a Troy team called Sha-Bang.  The girls started off strong.  A grand slam in the third took the wind out of the girls sails and they never recovered.  I fear they are loosing their motivation to play.  There are still four games left to play and I hope that it is not the case.

The girls did well against Eddy, but still game out a few runs short of victory.  I will say this.  There was a girl on the Eddy team that I believe many of us wished would just shut-up. She was very obnoxious.  Her mom is one of the coaches.  I can see were she gets it.  I am glad we are done playing that Eddy team.

During last night’s game, all the girls did a great job.  We are extremely proud of Megan’s performance.  She batted three times and got on base each time.  She also brought in runs each time she batted.   I guess the time spent at the batting cages Saturday morning really paid off.

The girls showed a lot of improvement tonight.  If they keep improving like this they should win the next game.

After missing two games against McGregor, one for rain and the other because the Troy High School Baseball team was in the playoffs, Total Chaos was back in action Tuesday.  The girls looked sluggish.  I think the long weekend and missing almost two weeks of games really hurt them.   I have to give credit to the Eddy girls.  They only had 7 players but they still beat us by more than 10 points.

I really hate that they try to play under so many different rules, ASA, Texas Teen Age, and come to find out rules made up by the Quad City (Troy, Eddy, Moody, and McGregor).  I have always played that if you did not have 9 kids you could play but you got outs when the missing kids came up in the batting order.  The Quad City rules don’t allow this.  You know if I was a coach I think I might want my worse kids to stay home so I can have my top batters bat over and over again.  Anyway Rant over.

Melinda was sick all weekend, so Bill Pitt, Melinda’s Dad came over to pickup the kids for the weekend.  On Monday, he was driving the kids back into to us when for some odd reason Megan pocket dialed my work number and left a long message.

Megan & Bill’s conversation about our Trip to Canada

It is funny that they are discussing our trip to Canada and how boring the drive must be.  I can only guess that we missed the start of the conversation in which Megan must have said she was bored with the drive from the Lake.
